Mead signs new NRL deal with Brisbane

PNG international David Mead has signed a new NRL deal that will keep him at Brisbane until at least the end of the 2018 season.

Mead is set to make just his second start for the Broncos in Friday night’s ANZ Stadium clash with South Sydney.

The 28-year-old winger dazzled on his Broncos debut two weeks ago, scoring a try and running for 174m with two line breaks in the 32-8 win over the Sydney Roosters.

The ex-Gold Coast flyer has shown enough to earn a 12-month contract extension ahead of his 150th NRL game.

Mead slots in to the Brisbane starting side against the Rabbitohs, replacing injured winger Jordan Kahu (groin).

Mead arrived at the Broncos in the off-season from the Titans, where he made his 2009 NRL debut and played 147 games.
