McKendry guilty of touching NRL ref

Penrith’s Sam McKendry will miss Sunday’s NRL clash with Cronulla after he was found guilty of touching referee Jared Maxwell at the judiciary on Wednesday night.

McKendry unsuccessfully challenged his grade one contrary conduct charge stemming from a 71st minute incident in Monday’s 20-16 win over Sydney Roosters.

The New Zealand international prop argued he was “talking with my hand” when Maxwell walked into him however the three-man panel took just 10 minutes to find him guilty.
