Maroons to make changes for Origin III

Melbourne premiership-winning centre Brenko Lee is poised to make his State of Origin debut as Queensland coach Wayne Bennett confirmed several changes to his line-up for the series decider on Wednesday.

Lee will come into the Maroons’ team at centre with Kurt Capewell moving to the back row, if he doesn’t have any issues with his calf strain in the team’s final training run on the Gold Coast on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Lee was minutes away from debuting in game one but was a late scratching and couldn’t regain fitness in time for game two in Sydney last week.

As well as Lee’s inclusion, Bennett confirmed star five-eighth Cameron Munster is looking good to play at Suncorp Stadium as he continues to clear his concussion protocols following his game two head knock.

Capewell’s move means Jaydn Su’A will drop back to the bench with game two debutant Dunamis Lui the man to drop out of the 17.

Winger Xavier Coates is 50-50 to play according to Bennett due to a lower-leg injury and will need to prove his fitness in the captain’s run on Tuesday.

If Coates is ruled out, Bennett confirmed Newcastle winger Edrick Lee will come in to the team for his Origin debut.

The Maroons coach said South Sydney’s Corey Allan will debut at fullback with Valentine Holmes to move to the wing to nullify the threat of NSW winger Josh Addo-Carr.
