Punters have backed Manly into $3.50 outright favouritism to win the 2012 NRL grand final after the defending premiers made it four straight wins with a convincing 42-20 victory over Newcastle.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan says only Melbourne has been at a shorter price to win the grand final during the season.
“Melbourne was supported at $3 back in May and aside from Manly is the only other team to be as short as $3.50 since betting on the grand final began,” Sullivan said.
“Manly has been crunched in recent weeks with their price halving from $7 at the start of August to the $3.50 available now.”
“They are by far and away the punters pick at the moment.”
The Bulldogs have also firmed from $4 to $3.75 after their 1 point win over Wests Tigers while Melbourne are solid $4 third favourites. Souths has eased to $7 after being as short as $4.35 two weeks ago.
One Sportingbet punter might be questioning his decision to put $3,000 on Brisbane to win the Grand Final at $26 last Friday. The Broncos are now out to $29 after being as short as $5 back in May.
