Manly ace backs Cherry-Evans as captain

Embattled Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans is still the man to lead the NRL club despite his role in their horror weekend in Gladstone, according to star fullback Tom Trbojevic.

Just days after Cherry-Evans was fined for an altercation with Jackson Hastings in Gladstone, the Sea Eagles are on Tuesday poised to announce fines for up to another six players for breaking curfew.

“We love having him as our leader and I love playing with him week in, week out. A tough few weeks for him but we know we’ll get the best of him for the rest of the year,” Trbojevic said on Tuesday morning.
