Parramatta front-rower Darcy Lussick has taken the safe route and accepted a four-match NRL ban for his ugly high tackle on Sydney Roosters rival Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
Lussick joined teammate Tim Mannah and Canberra tackling-machine Shaun Fensom in taking early guilty pleas on Tuesday – with Eels hard man Lussick copping the stiffest penalty.
He could have risked a six-week ban by contesting the grade four reckless high tackle charge, but will instead miss just the four matches.
Mannah will be free to take on Manly this weekend after pleading guilty to a dangerous contact charge for placing unnecessary pressure on the head of Roosters centre Michael Jennings.
Fensom will miss Sunday’s home game against Gold Coast over a similar offence, after being charged with a grade two infringement over his tackle on Newcastle’s Dane Gagai.
