Lolohea secures Warriors release: reports

Tuimoala Lolohea could be available to play NRL for the Wests Tigers as soon as next week after reportedly securing a release from the Warriors.

Lolohea will likely fill the five-eighth role for the Tigers alongside halfback Luke Brooks after finally being allowed to leave the Warriors mid-season, according to multiple sources.

His signing – on a reported two and a half year deal – will end the Tigers’ long-running halves dilemma this season.

It’s understood the Tigers had originally been holding off on releasing No.6 Mitchell Moses to Parramatta until Lolohea’s arrival, before eventually letting him go last week.

Part of the merry-go-round is understood to see Canberra reserve grade fullback Zac Santo head across the Tasman.

Lolohea, 22, will then likely move to fullback for the Tigers next season, once Josh Reynolds arrives from Canterbury.

A livewire junior talent, Lolohea debuted with the Warriors as a 19-year-old after an exciting stint in the under-20s.

However, he has struggled to find a regular home in the Warriors’ backline recently, and has played just four NRL games this season.

He has scored 17 tries in 53 NRL games.

Provided Lolohea has his contract registered by Tuesday, he will likely replace Jack Littlejohn in the Tigers’ No.6 jersey against St George Illawarra next Saturday.
