Newcastle copped a hiding at the hands of Canberra and now NRL back-rower Chris Houston is expecting another one from coach Wayne Bennett.
The Knights were dismantled 44-14 by the Raiders at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.
In a strong start, the Knights scored the first two tries before capitulating to let in 44 unanswered points as Canberra went on to score the next nine.
It’s been described as Newcastle’s worst performance under Bennett, who is yet to voice his thoughts to the playing group.
“The silent treatment is pretty bad – we copped it once last year as well,” Houston said on Monday.
“But it’s not not like we’re not feeling the pain that he’s feeling, and that’s why it’s frustrating.
“He’s barely spoken since halftime.
“He was pretty disappointed and has every right to be.
“No doubt, we will have a tough video session tomorrow and I’m sure he will do a bit of talking then.”
Having suffered back-to-back losses, the Knights will host a rampant Canterbury side who’ll enter Sunday’s round-nine clash on the back of three straight victories.
But Houston remains confident the Knights can rebound from the humiliation.
“The whole playing group is embarrassed by the way we played and what happened on Sunday,” he said.
“So hopefully, we can rectify that this weekend.
“We have been in this situation before and so has Wayne, and all we can do is have a good week at training and try and turn it around for the Dogs.
“We did the job against the Gold Coast the other week, are still confident in the playing group we have here and just have to get it right on the field.”
