Kenny-Dowall’s NRL future unclear

Shaun Kenny-Dowall will miss at least another fortnight of the NRL, amid the domestic violence allegations made against him.

Kenny-Dowall won’t play in the Sydney Roosters’ round 20 match against Wests Tigers on Friday and will likely also sit out the club’s round 21 fixture against Canterbury.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson said the 27-year-old’s well being was the club’s primary consideration.

“Shaun won’t play this week and he probably won’t play next week either,” Robinson said on Thursday.

“It’s not about football at the moment, it is about Shaun’s welfare, and making sure he is ok.”

Kenny-Dowall sat out the Tricolours’ win over the Warriors on Saturday after being arrested and charged with a number of offences on Saturday.

However Robinson stressed he was not being stood down by the Roosters over the allegations.

The first mention of the matter occurred in Waverley Local Court on Thursday.

Kenny-Dowall’s lawyer Chris Watson did not enter a plea on the Kiwi international’s behalf.

The matter has been adjourned until August 6.
