Judiciary upholds Burgess NRL ban

The NRL judiciary has upheld George Burgess’ two-match ban for contrary conduct.

The South Sydney prop will not be available until the third week of the finals, if South Sydney progress that far.

In a bid to be able to play in the second week of the finals, Burgess – at Rugby League Central on Wednesday – challenged the grading of his grade-two contrary conduct charge for tossing a bottle at Sydney Roosters forward Kane Evans.

However, those hopes were snuffed out by the judiciary panel, which upheld the initial charge. That means the original two-match ban stands.
