Jennings to sign NRL deal with Parramatta

Star Sydney Roosters centre Michael Jennings will join the Parramatta Eels on a four-year NRL deal according to Fairfax Media.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Sunday afternoon the deal would be done within 48 hours with the clubs simply waiting on the approval of the NRL.

The news comes on the back of the Roosters signing Brisbane centre Dale Copley.

Jennings, who still has a year left on his present deal with the Bondi club, will have part of his contract paid by the Roosters in the 2016 season.

However, with the Eels then having to pay the full asking price over the following three years, they may need to offload players at the end of this season to ensure they don’t breach the salary cap.

The signing of Jennings will be a major boost for the Eels, who have lost both Jarryd Hayne and Will Hopoate in the past 12 months.

Jennings will join a revamped Parramatta outfit which will also feature New Zealand playmaker Kieran Foran, goal-kicking fullback Michael Gordon and State of Origin back-rower Beau Scott.
