Inglis shift an option at Souths

Blues winger Rene Ranger has been suspended for two weeks for a late and dangerous tackle on Bjorn Basson during Saturday’s Super Rugby match against the Bulls.

Southern hemisphere rugby body SANZAR said Monday that Ranger was suspended up to and including March 25, meaning he will miss games against the Stormers in Cape Town and Hurricanes in Auckland.

Judicial officer Mike Heron ruled the New Zealander’s tackle was “reckless and late” when he dived on Basson as the Bulls winger scored a try in the 79th minute.

In a fractious end at Loftus Versfeld, Keven Mealamu was involved in an altercation with a Bulls fan who threw a plastic bottle at the Blues captain while he was sitting on the bench.
