Queensland captain Cameron Smith says Greg Inglis looks as “good as new” after battling illness ahead of Wednesday night’s opening rugby league State of Origin clash.
Smith said on Monday he believed Inglis would be near 100 per cent fitness for the ANZ Stadium match, despite spending three nights in hospital during the Maroons’ Gold Coast camp before flying to Sydney with the squad on Sunday night.
Smith also paid tribute to the Maroons’ other centre, Justin Hodges, who has overcome a foot wound to be ready for what will be his final Origin series before he retires from representative football at year’s end.
