Henry happy to take the heat at NRL Titans

Gold Coast coach Neil Henry has welcomed a week of introspection that centred on his future at the NRL club, while potential replacement Craig Bellamy claims he hasn’t given any thought to leaving Melbourne.

Titans boss Graham Annesley met with players and coaching staff this week to canvas opinions on what exactly has gone wrong on the Gold Coast in the past fortnight.

Henry, reported to be at odds with some players and in danger of losing his post, has no issue with that approach.

“I was happy with him to talk with players; there was a general feeling of support and what the club needs to do to better the situation,” he said.

“It wasn’t a personal coaching discussion; it wasn’t aimed at that.

“We acknowledged that there’s been some reasons around injuries and cohesion, but that doesn’t excuse performance.”

In Melbourne on Friday, Bellamy said he had not considered a move north after being linked to the club earlier this week.

“I’m probably going to go and see my daughter in a couple of weeks, but other than that I don’t know anything else about the Gold Coast,” the Storm coach said.

“I’ve got a contract here for next year and Neil Henry has one there so that’s where it stands.

“It doesn’t seem that long ago I made a decision to coach on for another couple of years, so I don’t want to be thinking about that.”
