Punters will be cheering for Greg Inglis to win the Dally M medal on Tuesday night after backing the Souths star from $10 into as short as $2.50 favouritism at Sportingbet before betting was suspended.
When betting closed before Round 17, Inglis was a $4.25 favourite ahead of Manly’s Daly Cherry Evans and Melbourne’s Cooper Cronk, both at $7.
“We took a few $500 bets for Inglis at the $10 and a string of $200 and $300 bets for him and he’s by far and away our worst result,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.
“Cherry Evans also attracted plenty of cash and a few punters got on him at the $34 towards the start of the season,” Brown said.
“Our analysts rate Thurston as the odds-on favourite to win his third Dally M, with Cherry Evans and Carney tied for second,” Brown said.
Meanwhile, the Roosters are $1.65 favourites at Sportingbet against Manly at $2.30 for Sunday’s NRL Grand Final.
Sonny Bill Williams is a $6 favourite to win the Clive Churchill Medal, in front of James Maloney and Cherry Evans at $7 and Kieran Foran at $9.
