After suffering only their second loss of the season to the Panthers in round 7 (14 – 12), the Titans bounced right back with a solid 22 – 6 win over the Tigers at Leichhardt Oval, a venue where the Tigers had won four of their last five.
Titans’ five-eight Aidan Sezer scored his fourth try of the season (from six matches) when crossing in the sixth minute of the game. Combined with his halves partner Albert Kelly, the pair of scored nine of the twenty-three tries the Titans have registered this season.

Another try to Titans’ winger Anthony Don, gave his side comfortably half-time lead and a margin that they extended in the second half with a try to Greg Bird.
The win sees the Titans sitting at the top of the ladder along with Manly and the Bulldogs on six wins. With this week’s fixture being their first at home for three weeks and being against a quality oppositions, the Titans should be supported by a bumper crowd.
In fact the Titans should experience plenty of support over the next five weeks with their only ‘away’ game during that time, seeing them travelling up the road to take on the Broncos at Suncorp.
With a favourable draw, the Titans could found themselves in an enviable position on the other side of the Origin period.
After a slow start to the season, South Sydney registered their third win from the past four outings by snatching victory against Brisbane in round 8 with a controversially penalty goal inside of the final two minutes.
A tight finish was not was South Sydney would’ve believed themselves to be involved in after rocketing to a 14 – 0 lead with three tries inside of the first 15 minutes.
However, just as many tries to the home-side in the final fifteen minutes of the first half, saw them take a remarkable 16 – 14 lead into the break.
A further two tries apiece in the second stanza had the scores all tied up when Adam Reynolds lined up a penalty goal in the 78th minute.
The game highlighted the best and worst of the Rabbittohs who were brilliant in attack but defensive errors and lapses kept their opponents in the game.
If they can eradicate these components of their game, the Rabbitohs should be back close to the form that saw them get within one game of last year’s Grand Final.

The Rabbitohs need to put an 80 minute effort together against a tenacious Titans outfit who have kept their opponents to less then 20 points all bar twice this year.
The Titans have lost their last four matches against South Sydney and although going much better this year than at any other time during that period, the injury concerns that hover of vital Titans’ halves pairing of Sezer and Kelly however is a major concern.
