Preview:

When you sign at a club for massive coin and you come up with fresh air in every sense of the word, people quickly form opinions.
Bryce Cartwright has been front and centre of this for weeks now.
I personally don’t know where to start.
His defence has come under scrutiny and how poor it has been but in the most respectful way, his defence has always been his Achilles heel.
Known for his flair over his ability to get down and dirty.
The inexperienced Knights would have loved to have Mitch Pearce with them last week and if they did have him, I don’t think they would have lost the game.
In terms of creating, they certainly did that but were just unable to convert due to not having a steady hand.
The upside for them this week is the team they’re playing is in the same boat.

KEY BATTLE: Ash Taylor v Brock Lamb

Taylor looks to have himself a long-time partner in AJ Brimson who for his first game, I thought was very good.
The challenge now is to back it up.
For the Knights, the combo of Watson and Lamb was proven to have a lot of upside again with three line breaks between them.
The Verdict
I like Newcastle and the exciting footy they’re playing.
Going down in back-to-back narrow defeats might just be enough motivation to get home.
The Knights have a 5-2 (71.4 percent) O/U record in games played in May since 2016.

NRL News:

Queensland forward Jarrod Wallace has re-committed his future to the Gold Coast, signing on until the end of the 2022 NRL campaign on Monday.

The prop had entertained the idea of moving south, visiting Newcastle to tour the Knights’ facility last week, before he agreed to exercise his contract option for 2019 and accept the offer to remain at the club for a further three years beyond that.

The deal to keep the 26-year-old Wallace on the Gold Coast is reportedly worth more than $500,000 a season.
