Brisbane back-rower Alex Glenn is set to defy the pain barrier and play in the NRL clash with Canterbury a week after suffering a wrist injury.
Glenn came off the field in last round’s win over Cronulla facing a long injury layoff with a suspected broken wrist.
But the Kiwi international has put his hand up for the game against the Bulldogs, training on Monday after scans cleared him of a fracture.
“He’s probably one of the more professional players I know,” Brisbane prop Korbin Sims said.
“He’s obviously doing the right things recovery wise
“If he plays this week it will be great for us.”
Glenn’s inclusion would be a shot in the arm for a Broncos outfit which kept their top-four goal on track with the 12-10 victory over the Sharks.
Brisbane moved to seventh with their seventh win in nine games and they are just two wins from top spot.
“If we win four of our next five we will set ourselves up comfortably to make our goal which is to be in the top four,” form Broncos forward Joe Ofahengaue said.
“For now it is just about finding some form ahead of the finals.”
Ofahengaue believed the 13th-placed Bulldogs would be just what they needed, tipping every team to lift their intensity on the run home to the finals.
“They are a big, aggressive pack,” he said of Canterbury.
“Games like this really prepare you for the finals.
“Last weekend it felt like a finals game.
“It’s good practice for the boys who haven’t been there yet.”
