Queensland star Dane Gagai has suffered a compound finger dislocation but coach Kevin Walters says he’s confident the winger will play in Wednesday’s State of Origin opener at the MCG.
In the Maroons’ latest major injury setback, Gagai – last year’s Wally Lewis Medal winner as player of the Origin series – suffered the serious finger damage at Queensland’s training session at the MCG on Tuesday.
Walters also confirmed Michael Morgan will play at fullback in place of the injured Billy Slater with Anthony Milford taking his spot on the bench.
