As if he didn’t have enough on his plate trying to get his side back in the winner’s circle, Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan couldn’t understand the logic in taking Sunday’s NRL game to Gosford.
The Sharks went down to Canterbury 24-8 at Bluetongue Stadium, Cronulla’s fourth loss in a row and fifth from seven games in 2013, with their only two victories coming at Sharks Stadium.
That just 10,131 fans turned up for the game only added to his frustrations over a financial deal that would have been ticked off by a Sharks board that has since been dethroned.
“I’m not happy about it, put it that way,” Flanagan said of moving the game to the NSW central coast.
“For us, the advantage of Shark Park is massive.
“Maybe it was a good financial decision back then. For me as a coach, I’d rather be sitting at Shark Park now.”
Captain Paul Gallen agreed with his coach but admitted the allocation where his side played its games was out of his control.
With their last home game having been the round-four loss to St George Illawarra on March 30, Cronulla don’t return to Sharks Stadium until round 10 on May 19.
