Fisiiahi takes over as Warriors fullback

Glen Fisiiahi will come in at fullback in one of two changes to the Warriors’ squad to face Wests Tigers in Sydney on Friday night.

Fisiiahi, who has been in superb try-scoring form for feeder club the Auckland Vulcans, will make his third NRL appearance of the season, with Kevin Locke and Jerome Ropati unavailable because of injury.

Locke had been a chance to return to the No.1 jersey from a sternum complaint but was ruled out on Tuesday.

Centre Ropati, who started at fullback in the past two rounds in Locke’s absence, dislocated his left kneecap in the 30-26 win over the Sydney Roosters on Saturday night and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.

Earlier on Saturday, Fisiiahi scored three tries for the Vulcans against the Windsor Wolves, taking his NSW Cup tally for the year to 18 from just eight matches.

In the other change to the Warriors’ 17, prop Sam Rapira, who has recovered from an ankle problem, will return to action off the bench in place of Ukuma Ta’ai.

Warriors: Glen Fisiiahi, Bill Tupou, Ben Henry, Konrad Hurrell, Manu Vatuvei, James Maloney, Shaun Johnson, Russell Packer, Alehana Mara, Ben Matulino, Elijah Taylor, Simon Mannering (capt), Feleti Mateo. Interchange: Lewis Brown, Sam Rapira, Sione Lousi, Jacob Lillyman.
