Ferguson to join Eels until 2021

Sydney Roosters star Blake Ferguson has signed with Parramatta on a three-year deal.

Ferguson’s management has confirmed that the former Kangaroos and NSW State of Origin winger will join the NRL club from next year on a $1.5 million contract.

A Parramatta official denied the story when contacted by AAP but it’s understood he has agreed to terms.

The Roosters had attempted to keep the 28-year-old and he also turned down an approach to join former Roosters teammates Mitchell Pearce, Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Connor Watson at Newcastle.

Ferguson’s signing with the Eels will have a flow-on effect for the club’s off-contract outside backs, Jarryd Hayne and George Jennings.

Ferguson has been one of the Roosters’ best and most consistent performers this year after agreeing to an alcohol ban.

He is the club’s top try-scorer with 10, leads the league with 189 run metres per game and is fourth for linebreaks with 13.

He has also proven himself a game-winner with his double against Newcastle and last-play try-saving tackle on Mahe Fonua against the Wests Tigers proving decisive.

The Eels will be Ferguson’s fourth club after debuting at Cronulla and a three-year stint at Canberra.
