North Queensland fullback Lachlan Coote will head to the NRL judiciary on Thursday to fight a contrary conduct charge for touching a referee.
Coote was cited with a grade-one charge by the NRL match review committee on Tuesday after making contact with official Grant Atkins in the Cowboys’ loss to Canberra on Monday.
He will miss one game if he loses, but if he wins, will play in the Cowboys’ next match against Canterbury in round 20.
Meanwhile, teammate Kyle Feldt will miss three matches for an 80th-minute shoulder charge on Raiders centre Jarrod Croker in the same game.
The Cowboys’ winger pleaded guilty to a grade-three charge and won’t be back until their round-22 clash with the Wests Tigers.
