Farah urged to make up or move on from NRL

Robbie Farah is being urged to make peace with Jason Taylor and play out his NRL career at Wests Tigers – or head overseas.

Former Manly coach turned rugby league analyst Geoff Toovey believes it’s time Farah and Taylor settled their differences or the NSW State of Origin hooker moves on.

On the outer with the coach ever since Taylor arrived at the joint venture club last year, Farah has been relegated to the bench at club level, despite Blues coach Laurie Daley deeming the 246-game veteran the state’s premier hooker.

Not even a season-ending injury to former premiership-winning recruit Matt Ballin could help Farah win a starting role at the Tigers and now Toovey is calling for the issue to come to a head once and for all.

“I don’t know what’s going on at the Tigers, but there seems to be some issues around him (Farah),” Toovey said on Fox Sports’ NRL 360.

“I think as a club legend, he either stays there and someone swallows their pride, they get on with it or he gets out and goes overseas.

“I’d like to see him be a one-club player in Australia, so I’d hate to see him play for another club here.

“So I think his only other option is to stay and work it out and whatever it may be – have a gun fight at 10 paces – or get out and go overseas.”

Toovey’s plea for rugby league’s most public feud to end comes after Australian coach Mal Meninga last week said if he was Tigers coach, Farah would go.

“It’s an unhealthy relationship, so either one of them has to go,” Meninga said.

“If I’m coaching the footy team, if I’m Jason Taylor, I’d want Robbie to go, simple as that.

“It’s your neck in the noose and if the team’s going to lose (because) Robbie’s there, then see you later Robbie.”

But contracted until the end of 2017 on a $950,000-a-season deal, Farah remains unlikely to go anywhere.
