Eels remain rudderless

Parramatta remain without a chief executive after Leagues Club boss Bevan Paul reportedly rejected the terms of a deal to become the interim group CEO.

Regular Eels CEO John Boulous is one of five Parramatta directors and staff members who remain provisionally suspended by the NRL, pending their response to the salary cap breach notice.

That is not due until next month, meaning Paul could only be offered the position on a short-term and interim basis.

However, the Leagues Club boss believes he needs at least a year to turn around the NRL organisation, and has therefore knocked back the deal unless that contract length can be offered, according to Fairfax Media.

Meanwhile three of the remaining directors on the Eels board – Paul Garrard, Tanya Gadiel and Andrew Cordwell – are also understood to be opposed to placing their fellow board member, Geoff Gerard, as the club’s interim chairman.
