Eels look to extend Arthur NRL contract

They missed out on Jarryd Hayne, but Parramatta are taking no chances in trying to secure coach Brad Arthur to a longer-term deal.

The Eels have already opened talks with Arthur, reportedly aimed at extending his contract for an extra two seasons beyond 2017.

“He’s done a good job and the club want to extend his contract,” interim Eels boss Max Donnelly told Fairfax Media.

“We’ve commenced negotiations to extend his contract.”

Arthur has maintained an incredibly strong face this season despite the endless dramas to engulf the club.

Despite a heavy injury toll and four key players departing mid-season, Arthur’s men have still won enough matches to place them seventh on the ladder had it not been for their 12-point salary cap deduction.

The Eels are also said to be in the market for South Sydney and NSW Origin halfback Adam Reynolds.

A News Corp Australia report linking Reynolds with a move to Parramatta comes after Arthur confirmed on Thursday the Eels are on the lookout for a new No.7.
