Eel Evans reported for alleged racial slur

Parramatta prop Kane Evans has been accused of a racial slur during a reserve grade rugby league match.

Evans was put on report after Warriors second-rower Joseph Vuna made an official complaint to the referees on Saturday evening during Wentworthville’s 36-6 NSW Cup loss.

Playing for Parramatta feeder side Wentworthville at ANZ Stadium before the Eels’ first-grade clash with Newcastle, Evans will be scrutinised by the NSWRL.

With four minutes on the clock, tempers boiled over after Evans had the ball dislodged in a tackle and Warriors players pointed at the former Sydney Roosters’ forward as they made a complaint.

It’s not clear what Evans is accused of saying, with the two sides again coming together at fulltime.

“What we’ve got is an on-field complaint about a racial allegation,” referee Todd Smith said on-field.

“We’re going on with the game and will leave it there.”

After coming over to the Eels from the Roosters, Evans has played just four first-grade matches this season because of injury and form.
