Eastwood to miss Dogs’ Brisbane NRL game

Canterbury forward Greg Eastwood will miss the Bulldogs’ vital Friday night clash with Brisbane after being found guilty of a dangerous contact charge by the NRL match review committee.

Eastwood found himself in trouble after last round’s second half tackle on the Sydney Roosters’ Mitchell Pearce in which he twisted the halfback’s leg.

The Kiwi international pleaded not guilty but was unsuccessful in defending the charge and will serve a one match ban.

Eastwood would have also received a one-match ban if he had taken the early guilty plea but he is now left with 93 carryover points.

The Bulldogs sit in eighth spot on 22 points but with a logjam of eight teams on between 18-22 points they’ll need a good finish to the season to make the finals.
