De Belin banned for crusher tackle

St George Illawarra forward Jack de Belin has lost his bid to remain NSW’s 19th man after copping a one-match NRL ban for a crusher tackle.

De Belin was on Tuesday night rubbed out for a week after being found guilty of a grade one dangerous contact charge at the NRL judiciary.

He was set to be the Blues’ 19th man in Wednesday’s State of Origin II however would not be available to run out should Laurie Daley’s side suffer an injury in the warm up.

He pleaded not guilty to the tackle on Parramatta forward Kenny Edwards in Sunday’s loss to the Eels and will be unavailable for the Dragons’ clash against Newcastle on Sunday.
