Brisbane veteran Corey Parker has questioned the consistency of the NRL match review committee after Ryan James will escape with a one-week ban for his hit on James Tedesco.

James will miss just one match for the high shot that broke Tedesco’s jaw on Saturday, the same suspension Parker received for a dangerous contact charge in State of Origin III last month.

James would also still escape with a one-week ban if he challenges the charge at the judiciary and loses, leaving Parker unimpressed with the decision.

“You just want to see consistency,” the Broncos captain told Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast.

“I got Tedesco myself in the Origin match. I hadn’t been charged in 15 years and got one week.

“Now he’s got a broken jaw and he (James) got one week.”

Both Parker and James were charged with grade-two offences for their relevant tackles.

Tedesco was falling when he was struck by James in the second half of the Titans’ one-point win over Wests Tigers on Saturday.

Parker also argued he believed the nature of the injury should be taken into account when considering suspensions, given Tedesco has now been ruled out for the season.

“Decisions are made, based on what I was led to believe, the severity of the tackle,” Parker said.

“And he’s broken his jaw, regardless of how it has happened.

“He’s hit him with a closed fist, swinging arm that has has since broken his jaw.”
