Cordner set for Roosters training return

Sydney Roosters and NSW Origin captain Boyd Cordner has had successful stem-cell treatment on his knee and will return to training next week, News Corp Australia reports.

The Sunday Telegraph reports Cordner, who has played just 30 games for the Roosters in the past two seasons, had his own fat tissue injected into the troublesome tendon.

Bulldogs enforcer Aaron Woods had a similar procedure four years ago.

“I’ll be at training on the fifth of January and I will ease back into it,” Cordner, who was part of the Australian team which won the Rugby League World Cup earlier this month, told The Sunday Telegraph.

“But I’ll be in full training by the end of January.

“I didn’t have to have surgery. It was just a stem cell injection, so I didn’t have to go under the knife at all. It is going really well.”
