Champion signs with Eels for 2015

Parramatta have signed South Sydney centre Beau Champion for the 2015 NRL season.

The Eels will be his fourth club after stints with Melbourne and the Gold Coast after starting out with the Rabbitohs before returning at the beginning of last season.

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur welcomed the acquisition of the 27-year old veteran of 105 NRL games as an important addition to the depth of their outside backs.

Champion has been signed on a one-year deal.

“Beau is a great competitor and athlete, and will be a valuable addition to our side for 2015,” Arthur said in a club statement.

“He will bring backline experience to our team, and maturity to our young squad.”

Champion was happy to extend his NRL career into its 11th season.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to come to a club that I believe is on the rise, with a lot of young talent,” Champion said.

Champion is currently sidelined with a wrist injury.
