Preview:

The Bulldogs take on Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium on Friday 5.20pm.  Canterbury are coming off the back of a spectacular 50-10 win against Cronulla, and the Tigers will have to watch their attacking prowess.  In contrast, the Tigers may be a little demoralised after their loss to the Broncos last round, although they can hold their heads up high in what was a strong defensive effort.  It looks like a game of Bulldogs attack versus Tigers defence, with halves Jaline Graham and Moses Mbye two of the key players for Canterbury.

Teams:

Canterbury Bulldogs:
Ben Barba, Mitch Brown, Josh Morris, Tim Lafai, Sam Perrett, Josh Reynolds, Trent Hodkinson, Aiden Tolman, Michael Ennis (c), Martin Taupau, Tony Williams, Frank Pritchard, Greg Eastwood
Interchange: Dene Halatau, Josh Jackson, James Graham, Dale Finucane, Tim Browne (one to be omitted)

In The News:

Tolman’s new four-year Bulldogs NRL deal

Canterbury have re-signed prop Aiden Tolman for a further four years, keeping him at the Bulldogs until at least the end of the 2017 NRL season.

Tolman started with Melbourne in early 2008 and joined Canterbury three years later, subsequently making 56 first-grade appearances and earning two Country Origin jumpers in 2011 and 2013.

After varying reports about his future, the Kempsey-born forward said on Thursday he was happy to have the new deal finalised.

“I’ve found a good home here at the Bulldogs and it’s good to know that it is where I’ll be for the next four years,” Tolman said. “I have a number of aspirations and goals that I’d love to achieve in this game and I believe that with the current structure here at the club, I can go a long way to ticking those things off.”

Coach Des Hasler said he was pleased to have someone of Tolman’s calibre as a part of his squad moving forward.

“Aiden is a part of our senior playing group and is a very valued member of our squad both on and off the field,” Hasler said. He is someone who continuously works hard on his game and is looking to improve every week.”

Tolman’s deal comes 24 hours after Greg Eastwood’s decision to re-sign with Canterbury for the next three seasons.

The back-rower was approached to join Newcastle but said he never considered leaving the Bulldogs and hoped to play out the rest of his career at Belmore.
