Plenty has changed for both teams since Parramatta cruised to a 26-8 victory Canterbury at CommBank Stadium in Round 1.
The Bulldogs are on the fringe of the Top 8 after chalking up six wins, along with four losses by four or less, in their last 10 games.
In the past fortnight they blitzed the Dragons 44-12 after trailing at halftime and demolished the Knights 32-2 in Newcastle without two NSW stars and injured duo Viliame Kikau and Josh Addo-Carr.
As the club hunts three straight victories for the first time since 2019, Stephen Crichton and Matt Burton are named in the Bulldogs line-up with a five-day turnaround from the Origin series opener and Toby Sexton hangs onto the No.7 jersey.
The Eels fell off a cliff after losing Mitchell Moses (and later Clint Gutherson) to injury, going on a 1-7 run that cost long-serving coach Brad Arthur his job.
But Moses returned in Round 13 sparked an immediate transformation, leading a 34-22 victory over table-topping Cronulla.
Gutherson also came back in that match and was influential, while Dylan Brown starred without the pressure of running the team.
Blaize Talagi goes into the Eels centres with Bailey Simonsson (knee) out; Sean Russell shuffles to the wing. JMaine Hopgood will back up after debuting for Queensland.
The Eels have won 14 of the archrivals last 17 clashes, including six of the last seven by 18-plus margins.
The Bulldogs sole win in the past five seasons was a 34-4 shock against the eventual grand finalists midway through 2022.
One of the toughest to call in a weekend of hairline matches. The Eels are $1.70 favourites, but the Bulldogs deserve some respect for their performances over a significant length of time.
