Bulldogs set to sign Napa until 2021

Canterbury are set to announce the signing of premiership-winning Sydney Roosters prop Dylan Napa until the end of the 2021 NRL season.

The Roosters on Monday confirmed releasing Napa, a Queensland State of Origin representative, from the final year of his contract with the club.

“We have granted this release with the view that it is in Dylan’s best interests to secure his long-term future,” said Easts Group CEO Scott Bennetts in a statement.

“Dylan has been a passionate clubman, and he will always have many friends at the Roosters.

“We thank Dylan for his contribution to the Roosters over the years, and wish him every success in the future.”

Napa’s move to Belmore paves the way for the Bulldogs to allow wantaway prop David Klemmer to leave for Newcastle.

Canterbury were forced to look for a new front-rower after Klemmer requested a release from the club due to personal reasons.

Napa, 26, has appeared in 122 games for the Roosters since making his debut in 2013, and has also featured in five Origin matches for the Maroons.
