Bulldogs’ Blues trio face anxious wait

NSW winger Brett Morris says he’ll find out early on Thursday morning whether he will be able to back up for Canterbury in Friday’s NRL clash against the Warriors.

Bulldogs trio Morris, Josh Jackson and David Klemmer departed from State of Origin camp immediately after Wednesday’s loss to Queensland for accommodation near Sydney airport.

Canterbury fly out for Auckland on Thursday, however Morris said he will wait for the green light on his troublesome knee from club and Blues doctor Joe Lombardo before getting on the flight.

“At this stage I’ve still got to go through a medical with the guys here,” Morris said.

“I’ve still got to do recovery. We’ll wait and see how it pulls up after all that sort of stuff and we’ll get a read on it then. At this stage it’s sort of up to the docs here.

“The good thing is the Bulldogs club doctor is in camp. He knows my body quite well.”

Blues skipper Boyd Cordner could be another casualty from the ANZ Stadium encounter after he picked up a calf injury late in the match.

The Sydney Roosters co-captain failed to back up after Origin I as coach Trent Robinson opted to rest him from their round 13 win over Brisbane due to knee soreness.

He’s now racing the clock for the Roosters’ Saturday clash against Melbourne in Adelaide.

“I just felt my calf. We’ll have to see how it pulls up tomorrow. Probably have to get scans to see how it is,” Cordner said.

NSW fullback James Tedesco came off due to concussion but returned, however Maroons centre Will Chambers failed to finish the match due to his own second-half head knock.

Champion Queensland playmaker Johnathan Thurston is also certain to be closely monitored after playing through his shoulder injury in the game two win.

The North Queensland captain is set to play his 300th game against Penrith on Saturday.
