Broncos prop Payne Haas has been fined $10,000 and will be stood down for the start of the premiership for refusing to co-operate with the NRL integrity unit, it has been reported.
The 19-year-old will miss Brisbane’s opening NRL premiership games against Melbourne on March 14 and North Queensland on March 22, and possibly up to two more games, The Courier-Mail reports.
He may be stood down from Saturday’s trial game against Queensland Cup side Wynnum Manly.
The Broncos sanctioned Haas following an off-field brawl involving relatives at last year’s QRL semi-final and another off-field incident, also involving family members.
The NRL integrity unit began investigating last November and tried to interview Haas but the front-rower would not comply, the newspaper reported.
