Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin has dropped representative fullback Josh Hoffman for Sunday’s crunch NRL match against Canterbury for disciplinary reasons.
The young New Zealand Test player was late for training on Wednesday forcing Griffin to act on the club’s hardline policies for such breaches.
Griffin is believed to be considering playing Corey Norman at fullback where he was outstanding in a few games last season.
“Josh will play for Redcliffe on Sunday,” Griffin told the Courier Mail.
“No one’s happy about this. I’m not happy, and I’m sure he’s not. No one enjoys doing these things, but it is what it is.
“Regardless of our situation, I’m not going to stand for ill discipline, particularly at this time of year.
“We have to make it clear that regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in on the ladder, our culture and standards will not be compromised.”
It’s a tough call for Brisbane who are playing a side that has won 10 in a row, while fighting to hold their own place in the top eight a month out from the NRL finals.
