Brisbane’s Wallace out of Raiders NRL game

Brisbane halfback Peter Wallace has been ruled out of Friday night’s NRL clash with Canberra with a groin injury.

Wallace failed to train on Thursday morning and his place will be taken by young utility Ben Hunt who comes off the bench into the starting side.

Forward Ben Te’o’s two-game suspension handed out by the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night gives young prop Dunamis Lui an opportunity to make his first appearance of the season off the interchange bench.

Back-up hooker Kurt Baptiste will come onto the bench to fill Hunt’s utility role against the Raiders.

Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin said he would not be giving any instructions to his players about using the controversial shoulder-charge tackle in Friday night’s game at Suncorp Stadium.

With Dave Shillington, Dane Tilse and another giant forward Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, Canberra boasts the biggest pack in the competition.

But Griffin said he had no concerns about his players’ tackling technique despite Te’o being suspended for two matches on a reduced grade-two dangerous contact charge.

Brisbane will be gunning for their fifth straight win against Canberra who found form last weekend with a big win over the Warriors.
