Blair, Waerea-Hargreaves fight NRL charges

New Zealand internationals Adam Blair and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will both front the NRL judiciary on Wednesday to challenge separate grade-one charges.

Sydney Roosters forward Waerea-Hargreaves was placed on report twice during their 14-14 draw with Cronulla at Toyota Stadium on Monday night.

Although he escaped penalty after taking the early guilty plea for a high tackle on Jeff Robson, he will contest a second charge for a high shot on Ben Ross.

If unsuccessful, he is likely to receive a one-game suspension from the accumulated points.

Fellow Kiwi and Wests Tigers enforcer Blair also faces a one-week suspension for dangerous contact on the legs of Canterbury centre Josh Morris last Friday.

Meanwhile, Parramatta’s Ben Smith will miss this week’s clash against the Bulldogs, after accepting a one-week ban for making unnecessary contact with the neck of Manly front-rower Brent Kite.
