Bird reignites NRL home final debate

Cronulla’s Jack Bird has revived debate about his club deserving a home NRL final in the Shire, describing it as unfair that Canberra can play a home final in Canberra.

Depending on weekend results, second-placed Cronulla could finish third and be forced to travel to Canberra to face the Raiders in week one of the finals.

All Sydney teams are forced to play home finals out of one of the city’s two big venues – Allianz Stadium and ANZ Stadium – and Bird says it’s a double standard that the Raiders can play a final out of Canberra Stadium but his team would be forced to take a game away from Shark Park.
