Arthur urges NRL to make Fa’aso call

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur has called on the NRL to make its decision on Richie Fa’aoso’s playing future.

The 30-year-old prop was forced into retirement after breaking his neck when playing for Manly in 2013 but has been medically cleared to play again following surgery and signed a one-year deal with the Eels in October.

The NRL initially refused to ratify the contract due to insurance concerns, but Arthur said Fa’aoso has since done everything asked of him by the code and he needs to know if he’ll be allowed to play again.

“It’s a hard one, every day it changes,” Arthur said.

“He’s being very positive but at some stage it has to be playing tricks with his mind.

“It’s hard for him on a personal level and for his family, he just wants to play football.”
