Adam Reynolds will press his claims for a Kangaroos call-up over the final month of the NRL season, starting with a head-to-head clash with Kiwis star Shaun Johnson this weekend.

The South Sydney halfback broke through for representative honours this season in playing for NSW in State of Origin I and II.

A shoulder injury ruled him out of the Blues’ win in Origin III, but the 2014 premiership winner has sufficiently recovered from that to make a concerted push for international representation over the final four games of the regular season.

And with Souths out of the finals reckoning a call-up to Mal Meninga’s side for the end of season tournament, in what would be his Australian debut, is a focus.

“The shoulder is all good. The body is feeling really good at the moment. I am in good shape for the last month of the season.

“The injury is where it needs to be. It is in the past, I have got through a few games, the confidence is there.”

Souths travel to Auckland to face the eighth-placed Warriors on Saturday in round 23.

Reynolds knows a good performance against Warriors playmaker and Kiwis ace Johnson will enhance his claims for a spot on the Kangaroo tour.

“He is a great player. He has won the golden boot. There is an aura about him,” he said.

“Like the rest of the Warriors he is playing with a lot of confidence at the moment.

“They are a big physical side so we need to be on our game.”
