New Rugby League Players’ Association president Ian Prendergast believes abolishing five-day turnarounds in the NRL is key to improving player welfare.
In his first press conference after being appointed to the role on Monday, Prendergast said he was surprised that the RLPA was not involved in negotiations for the 2016 NRL schedule.
The former AFL Players Association second-in-charge said on Tuesday he could not rule out industrial action as a response to the NRL’s lack of action on player burnout.
