In a vacuum, the 10-2 Eagles should definitely be 12.5 point favourites over the 3-9 Carolina Panthers.
However an NFL game never takes place in a vacuum (until the guys at head office work out how to sell it to a streaming service), and this is a rough spot for the Eagles against a resurgent Panthers team.
Since returning to the lineup, we have seen a different Bryce Young, the one the Panthers thought they were drafting last April, and he has had the team competitive against the Chiefs and Bucs since their bye.
They are still a bad team but they are at least finding ways to be competitive in games, which gives them half a chance against the Eagles.
Since their Week 5 bye, Philadelphia has been on a tear with head coach Nick Sirianni enjoying a massive career resurgence after seemingly heading for the unemployment line not that long ago.
But after a couple of draining road trips, first to LA to beat the Rams before a physical, demanding win over the Ravens last week, this has all the warning signs of a letdown with Pittsburgh up next on the schedule.
Philadelphia has had their share of games that are closer than expected and this looks like another one that could head that way as well.
