There is a very strange vibe around both of these teams heading into the new season.

New York looks like a team that is struggling to find an identity having tried (and failed) to pick up a new quarterback in the offseason and move on from the Daniel Jones era.

Not to mention their best offensive player Saquon Barkley has moved on to division rivals Philadelphia and rookie receiver Malik Nabers is going to have to put up some big numbers to keep this team moving.

Meanwhile, Minnesota has some phenomenal talent everywhere on the team except at the quarterback position.

New running back Aaron Jones is one of the best in the game when healthy and star receiver Justin Jefferson is as good as they come at that position too.

The plan at quarterback was to start rookie JJ McCarthy right off the bat but his torn ACL in preseason ruined those dreams and now they turn to journeyman Sam Darnold, fresh off backing up Brock Purdy in San Francisco last season.

Minnesota’s success this year could very well boil down to Darnold’s ability to do the simple stuff well and not screw it up too much.

As long as he can get the ball in the hands of his star teammates and get out of the way, the Vikings should be able to start the season on a winning note.
