Former MVP Matt Ryan will attempt to lead his new team past a Week 1 hoodoo; Indianapolis hasn’t won a season opener since the 2013 season. It will be a redemption year for the Colts, who ended the 2021 season with an embarrassing Week 18 loss to the Jags which ultimately cost them a playoff spot. The Texans come into 2022 with a new head coach and quarterback news of their own after trading Deshaun Watson to the Browns during the offseason. Defensive coordinator Lovie Smith was promoted to head coach and will look to improve both sides of the ball as Houston ranked 30th in point differential (-172) last season.
