Dario Franchitti of Scotland has won the pole position for Saturday’s IndyCar race at the Milwaukee Mile, with points leader Will Power qualifying fourth.
Justin Wilson of England, last week’s winner at Texas, came in second and he and points leader Power are two of the seven drivers facing a 10-position penalty for making an unapproved engine change.
They will have to drop back into the field before the start of the race.
Franchitti was fastest in Friday’s qualifying session, turning a two-lap average of 271.54 kmph to win the 27th pole of his IndyCar career. Franchitti won the Milwaukee race from pole position last year and will relish the chance to lead the field to the green flag for the second year in a row.
American driver Ryan Hunter-Reay was the third qualifier, while Rubens Barrichello came in fifth after Power.
