Holden ace Jamie Whincup has pipped a trio of Fords to top the timesheets in Thursday’s Supercars practice in Perth.

The Red Bull Holden Racing Team driver clocked a fastest lap of 53.4430 seconds to finish ahead of the Mustangs of Chaz Mostert, Will Davison and Fabian Coulthard.

Championship leader Scott McLaughlin was eighth-fastest in the half-hour session, with the Perth SuperNight event continuing on Friday with a night race for the first time at Barbagallo Raceway.
