TeamVodafone unveil endurance drivers

Former full-time V8 Supercar drivers Paul Dumbrell and Warren Luff will partner TeamVodafone duo Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes as co-drivers for this year’s endurance races.

The pair, who both stepped out of full-time driving at the end of the 2011 season, will team with Whincup and Lowndes for the Sandown and Bathurst races later in the year.

They take over from veteran Mark Skaife, who partnered Lowndes for the past two seasons but has retired to take over as chairman of the V8 Supercars commission, and youngster Andrew Thompson.

Dumbrell will team with Whincup while Luff will share duties with Lowndes.

“We’ve hit the ground running in 2012 and are well-prepared for the season to start,” team principal Adrian Burgess said at the unveiling of the team’s Commodore in Sydney on Tuesday.

“We’re especially pleased to have locked in a quality co-driver line-up for Sandown and Bathurst and the international race on the Gold Coast.

“Paul and Warren have extensive experience as full-time V8 Supercar drivers.”

The team has also announced Frenchmen Sebastien Bourdais and Northern Ireland’s Richard Lyons as the two international drivers who will partner Lowndes and Whincup at this year’s Gold Coast 600 event.
